Hello it’s me, Tom

Here are few hidden camera bitst hat feel relevant to this fun McLaren creative and some quick thoughts on my approach.

  • The key to successful Hidden Camera films is genuine, big and fun reactions.

Before imagining the structure of the film our focus should be on how we can cultivate the right environment and experience for those reactions to flourish.

  • Within this creative that focus should be on amplifying the reveal...

How do we make the F1 Car as impactful as possible to sign post the moment to our audience and inspire bigger reactions from our participants?

  • Sound and Lighting

Having sound effects of a revving F1 car and a shift in the lighting on cue every time someone gets close to one of the cars.

  • Motorising the Car

Could the car drive through the office at random moments? Capturing fun moments where our staff think they hear something but every time they turn it’s disappeared.

  • Plinth Charming

Could we create a large plinth in the middle of the room with the car in the middle? Does it revolve when the participants get close?

  • Sheet Reveal

Mimicking the way real size cars are presented we could put the car under a sheet inviting them to remove it to reveal the car.

The sheet could even look like it’s the size of a real car with the LEGO set underneath adding further humour to the reveal.

  • Unusual Positions

Could the cars be found in strange places? In the coffee cup cupboard. At the canteen? Places our staff would naturally go to anyway but they find their tools/mugs have been replaced?

  • Thank You!

Just a few little ideas to get a conversation started… I’d love to collaborate with you all to figure out the best approach and bring this joyful creative to life!
